Give Peas A Chance By Sasha

The Word Wizards (my reading group) are making presentations about a book we choose from the Core Reading Library. I chose a book called 'Give Peas A Chance!' by Morris Gleitzman. I have retold the story as a rebus. It's about a boy, a plate of veggies and how he changes the world. It's a funny, fantastic story which I would recommend to anyone 7 years older and up who likes humour.

Enjoy!

Pacifica Heartbeat

On Tuesday the 20th of March the Totara team went to Pacifica Heartbeat. We learnt heaps about pacific art and culture. First we learnt about how to say 'hello' or 'welcome' in lots of pacific languages. Secondly we went to the Auckland Art Gallery were we did weaving and designed patterns based on John Pule's art which we tied together to make a necklace. Next we went to the Town Hall were we learnt to hula and play drums. Then we went the Aotea Centre and did digital tapa art with the help of artist Vaimalia Urale. We made our own digital art, and made it into stickers. Lastly, we performed our hula dance in Aotea square. We had an awesome day and learnt heaps!

I Am The Great Horse

For reading, I have been reading a book from the 'Reading Core Library" called 'I Am The Great Horse' by Katherine Roberts. I have really enjoyed reading it. It is based on King Alexander and his horse Bucephalus, and is told by Bucephalus. A part of the reading Core Library is, when you've finished reading your book, you do a little presentation. My presentation is a book trailer.
