In Room 11 we have been learning about Egypt because that is what we're doing for the production.
Cleopatra was the last Ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Cleopatra married Ptolemy XIII he was the brother, husband and second cousin to Cleopatra!
She also married Ptolemy XII who was father, uncle, great uncle, father in law and husband to Cleopatra.
The first female pharaoh called Hatsheput wore male clothes and wore a beard. Pharaohs were buried inside a pyramid. Cleopatra also married her 12 year old brother. Weird!

Excellent information Emma and I agree that is a weird.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, she sounds rather greedy having all her relatives for her husband.Thank goodness we don't allow that now. Thanks for the interesting info.
ReplyDeleteHello Emma,
DeleteI did not know Cleopatra had married so many of her relatives - thanks for researching this. Isn't it funny how powerful people often do 'weird' things?
Hi Emma
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have shared some interesting information. I really did not know that she had married all those relatives. I am looking forward to seeing your production.
Sandie
Hi Emma,
ReplyDeleteI, like all the other wonderful people before me, did not know that Cleopatra had married within her family circle. I am sure she would have an interesting family tree. (to say the least) I enjoyed how, while reading your blog, I learned something new. That's what good writers do. They leave their readers knowing a bit more than before they had read the piece.
Well done, Andrea
Hi Emma,
ReplyDeleteI really loved your information about Cleopatra.

Hi Emma,
ReplyDeleteWow that is interesting!! I have a question...did she have all of these husbands at the same time or one after the other? It's hard for us to imagine what life would've been like back then isn't' it.
