the history of Kahma's and Oceania's names

Oceania and Kahma

Kahma's name history

My name full is Kahma Florence Teuki R****-G******. All my names have a long background but I'll tell you about one of them. My middle name is Florence. A lot of people know the story of Florence Nightingale. She was from a very wealthy family. A sickness had spread around and a lot of people died mainly the poor people but all the rich people fled but Florence stayed to help the poor sick people. So my Mum liked the name so she put it as my middle name. Kahma is First name my dad chose it. People use my name as a saying, if you do a good deed then a good thing will happen to you they say you will have good Karma but if you do something bad they say you will have bad Karma.Once my Dad did a good deed for someone and they said good Karma. I think my name was meant to be! Kahma

Oceania's name history

Hi my name is Oceania V****** l***. In my name I don't have lots of history like Kahma,  so how I got called Oceania was that mum and family really like the sea\ocean and they were talking about names. So when they got a baby they knew what to name it, mum said  if she had girl she will name her Nia and since they like the ocean and nia then our aunty said to put ocean and nia together to make Oceania:}.How I got the V****** was that mum was by herself  when she had me so she said she was going to make my last name V****** . Lucky last, my name L***. My mum had named me L*** because she had a rough time with me so my nana was talking lot's of care of me so she said that my middle name was L***. L*** is my grandmothers name.

The history behind Hannah's and Gwyneth's name.

The History of Hannah's and Gwyneth's name.

Gwyneth: My name dosen't have any history behind it because my mum just liked the name Gwyneth. My  middle name, which is Justine, was picked by my dad. He just added a 'e' at the end of his name to make my middle name. My last name which is K******* is a family name from my mum's side.

Hannah: My first name was picked because my mum and dad liked the name Hannah because you could spell it backwards. My middle name Mae was picked by my parents because they found May a lucky month, also my mum's grandma was called May. My last name, which is A*** is a family name from my Dad's side.

Will M story review

Yesterday I read a story called UFO. It was about the discovery of the ufos and around the world invasions as well as dead aliens. The most interesting part of the book was mostly the questions. As I was reading I found lots of cool pictures. The front of the book was called Mysteries in the Skies. One of my favourite parts was when the soldiers were trying to run away from an unidentified flying object which is a U.F.O.Some interesting words were object, saucers, reported and aliens. I gave this a four out of five star rating.

Isaia's emotion poem

St Luke's food court by Isaiah, Jake and Kate

Teenagers rapidly text at their sticky tables. Dreamy popcorn eliminates itself constantly when I chew. The scent of old scraps in a rusty rubbish bin floats up my nose. Phones buzz in adults pockets and irritates my ears. Ice cold drinks freeze my hands off. Kids drop sloppy ice cream on the rusty floor. Hot chips put my mouth in flames. Coins push down in my pockets. Stoves sizzle one by one. Hot spicy noodles sit in a bowl.

Oceania's poem

St Luke's Food hall by Nina, Oska and Eli

My hands squash the sticky sushi as I rub my greasy hands against the tray trying desperately to rub off the sticky mess that clung to it. Glancing around I watch the ocean sized crowd pushing and shoving to get their food. I choked as sticky fried rice got stuck to the top of my mouth not allowing me to swallow. The smell of salty chips assaulted my nostrils as the person next to me noisily ate his ENORMOUS McDonald's Big Mac. The stove sizzled and popped as the Mexican chefs cooked their delicious food. A horrible new smell marched over to me as a child opened the bin next to me releasing out a smell of old scraps and rotten cabbage. A kid walked past me his ice cream dangerously close to the edge of the cone. I watched it fall down from its perilous perch and hit the slimy floor with a SPLAT. I snatch a sugary donut out of my pocket and take a huge bite savouring every last bit. Lost change rubs against my hands I put in my pocket running my fingers along the grooves. The chefs happily splutter orders.

'Yum' 'n' 'Yuck' Food Hall by Will M, Jack and Livana

Yum

Warm sugary doughnuts stick on my fingers.

Salty buttery popcorn crunching on my tongue.

The grumpy chefs shouting orders buzzing in my ears.

The smell of battery kebabs with all the fresh ingredients inside.

Through a rush of people I see a free table.

Yuck

The floppy flounder flail around in my hands.

The hot sizzling hotdog over filled with artificial
mustard.

The horrible sound of cutlery scraping against plates.

As I walked past crowds I smelt filthy McDonalds burgers.

Exhausted janitors wiping the dirty tables that people left a mess.

The Food Hall By Maya, Gwyneth and Aum.

The toddlers melting ice cream dropped on to the dreadful ground with a splat. Teenage kid's phones buzzing in their undiscovered pockets. The warm scent of sugary, crispy donuts exits out of the cloudy oven. The fresh summer taste of strawberries from the smoothies glide and streak down my throat. As I sat down, I felt a sticky, gooey bubble-gum sticking to my firm, dense, plastic chair as I touched it with my delicate fingers. As I meandered, people dodged though the crowd in the jam-packed food court. I sniffed the aroma as the  teenagers hurled their old food in the bin. My tastebuds sprang up as the savoury of salty, buttery popcorn manipulated on my tongue. The solid gold coins in my pocket thrusted into my thighs.

St Luke's food hall by Ben, Toby, and Hunter

The sound of sizzling stoves echoes in my ears, driving me crazy. People chatting like mad ducks, chimes in my ears. The smell of  ice cold drinks smell lumbers up my nose. Crispy, sugary doughnuts, slither around my nose. I got a glimpse, of what seemed like neanderthals scoffing cheeseburgers in their mouths.  I see yummy cheesy big macs dropping to the floor. The sticky taste of fried rice almost completely fills my mouth.  The creamy, luscious taste of chocolate oozes in my mouth. I scrunch up my nose as I feel the greasy burgers buns. I feel the discomfort of the stiff, steel, chair.

St Lukes food hall Anouska, Arlo, Kahma and Lucy

The sound of a waitress sneering orders to the chef while passing by. A thick black cloud emerged and busted through my nose and wafted like a bad smell. Salty, crispy chips mushed in my mouth and slithered down my throat burning me. Rusty coins rubbed against my leg which made me give a little yelp. I could spy people bustling their way to to their greasy tables with their trays filled with fast food.

Anetema's Emotion poem

St Luke's food hall by Will, James and Jakob

Hard, cold rusty chairs support my body weight. People are ordering deliciously tantalising greasy cheeseburgers. The clicking sound of texting faintly sneaks into my ears. As crispy chicken nuggets waft to my nostrils, I can taste sugar-coated donuts tantalising my tastebuds. People are pushing and shoving and almost swimming through crowds. Wads of five dollar notes filled my pockets. Delicious dumplings battled for the most tempting food or drink with fizzy coca-cola smoothing my throat. All the while sizzling stoves intruded my ears.

The booming from the cooking grills bounced in and out of my ears. The aroma of deep fried chips crawled up my nose. Spicy, hot curry burnt my twisted tongue. Everywhere I looked teenagers were texting on their new, shiny phones. I felt the icy cold drink bubble up my nose. The waiters at the restaurants spluttered orders at the chefs. Warm crispy doughnuts lumbered through my nose. Juicy hamburgers filled my mouth with perfection. Cleaners mopped the dirty, sticky floors. Salty chips made my fingers unbearably greasy.

St Lukes Hall shared writing by George, Josh and Oceania

Juicy hamburgers went down my throat. Loud teenagers texted on shiny phones. People moaned with hunger. Refreshing ice cream, cold like the north pole. Icy cold drinks zoomed down my throat. The strong sent of butter chicken blowed up my nose along with delicious hot molten chocolate cake. People dropped food.  I held a light smooth tray tightly.

St lukes food hall by Marie, Harry, and Luka

The smell of spicy hot curry snorts up my nose as the sticky fried rice sticks on my hands. The loud sound of fire booming thunders into my ears as phones start to buzz repeatedly. The intense smell of warm, crispy doughnuts fills the air as my brain freezes from the cold refreshing ice cream. People surround me as they munch on their food slowly, in the corner of my eye are teenagers texting on their new shiny phones with laughter and chatter. As I'm walking to my table, I can feel the heaviness of   my plate and the coldness of my icy cold drink.

Archery by Luka

I could see the target and I was ready to fire the  bow. Then I shot the arrow at the target. I was wondering if I would get it in the board. I got it on the second try! I clicked the arrow on the bow. Then I shot. I could feel the arrow whizzing past my ear. The bad thing was that I missed one of my goes and only had two turns. I liked doing archery because I had never done it before and it was really fun.

The Hign Ropes by Kahma

Snap shot high rope

I looked down to find twenty two faces looking up at me,

I felt the wind brushing through my hair,

I felt my body shiver,

I saw my hands shaking,

I heard my heart thudding,

and I felt my chest pounding but,

after that I calmed, because I had done it!

I had crossed the high ropes!

Eli's achery training

I picked up the astonishing bow and as I pulled back the string, my fingers struggled and before I knew it-woosh,the arrow whizzed towards the target. BAM! Bullseye! I felt relief in my mind and happiness in my eyes. It felt like I was the champion of the world at achery.

Ruth's Camp Snapshot!

The High Ropes by Jake

I was fearless as I climbed across the rope. The line that I was holding onto was strong. The whistling wind wooshed through my hair. The belayer was saying, "You are the fastest yet!". It was a super awesome that I reached the end. Some other people were doing the high ropes.

Anouska's E.O.T.C story.

I could see the distorted bottoms of the kayaks popping up and down in the water above me. The light blue floor of the pool echoed in my mind as the sun pushed through the water. I could hear the swishing noise as the water thrusted against the side of the pool. The sound of my brain whizzing with excitement pushed through my mind. I felt my lungs screaming for air as I pushed frantically up towards the surface. Finally I am out from underneath the kayak.

E.O.T.C Week snapshot

I could see people falling out of the kayaks. People were zooming up the high ropes, their hearts were beating fast. Strong winds went speeding though my ears. I could hear water splashing up high in the sky from the pool. My heart was beating fast on the high ropes. I felt annoyed when I didn't get a bullseye.

   BY George

Kayaking and Capsizing By Toby

I could see the clear, blue water, surrounding me everywhere.

The air bubbles were popping and bombarding the surface.

The urge was strong to get to the surface and it was hard to get there.

The flickering, blurry surface where I desired my presence was near.

Kayaks were rumbling on the concrete absolutely saturated of water.

The struggle to escape my capsized kayak was hard, as it trudged through the thousands of litres of water.

Fiji fishing by Oska

My heart riots against my ribs, silencing everything. The line races furiously through my hand, whizzing, making a blur, I wondered if it would ever stop? The fiber glass takes its turn to tease my feet, threatening to make me slip. Streaks of churning water and a fin replay in my head as I remember the happiness that blossomed through me as I saw the catch of the day, a skipjack!!!

E.O.T.C. snapshot by Hunter

The high up ropes jiggled gently as I strided along them. I heard my friends' intense screams echoing in my ears. I glanced at my friends relaxing under the shade. My teammates spluttered the five common words, "I want to get down!".
In the most emotional part of my heart, I felt pure terror driving me through the course of fear (in my words anyway). Eventually I made it!

Archey by Hannah

My hand was tired from pulling back the stiff, hard string. My heart zoomed through my chest when I shot for the target. My arrow flew from the string and slammed into the target board. As the camera flashed, I knew that there will be a picture of me holding a bow in my hands. My arrows kept mising the target. Over and under it went instead. People encouraged me and helped me feel like I could definitely do it. And finally I did.

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

EOTC by Josh

I could see the target when I aimed. The wind flowed on my face when I let the arrow fly out of my hand. The arrow clung to the side of the bow when I let it go. I could see the tip of the shinning arrow in the target. I could hear my friends saying good job.

Monday, June 17, 2013

EOTC snapshot By Will B

My foot hit the beam of the platform I was leaping too. I could see my hand flailing in the air as it came to rest on the carpentered wood. I wondered if I was going to make it. The wind was whistling and I could feel the vibration of my limbs thumping against the timber. All I could see was the platform waiting to meet me on the high ropes.

Archery by Jakob

I feel like I can't do it. The bow is too heavy. People are firing arrows all around me. I hear the arrow whistling in the air as I let it go. It clashes with the bull's eye. I put the heavy bow down and feel like I won one million dollars.
